Spring is now turning into summer, and with that most of our
satellite honey buzzards have now arrived to Finland. Annika returned to
Hämeenkyrö already on May 26th, but because Mikko after his
difficulties in Sahara still is flying only in Turkey, she has now
formed pair with the neighboring honey buzzard male. Päivi reached
Finland yesterday in late afternoon, and today she continued to her
breeding territory in Vesilahti. Perhaps she will get chicks this year?
Lars is still flying in the Baltic States, but in a few days also he
should reach Finland. Regarding Jaana we have now got it confirmed that
she succumbed in West Sahara: her body and the transmitter was located
on May 26th close to the location her transmitter shut down.
